Is Twitter Dead?

Tags: Social-Media, Technology

I read an interesting article that was sent to me about Twitter. The main premise was Twitter is a fad and the retentention rate was very low when compared to Myspace and Twitter. Read more from  eMarketer. I've heard this argument with Facebook and MySpace as well. This is what we have to keep an eye out for that will kill twitter. As some may think It will not be low adoption rates, but any combination of thease items. Fail to quickly monetize twitter Continue to anger the developers that build 3rd party apps around their platform Get bought to soon by a large company like Google Fail to change their underlying structure to scale correctly and add new features quickly Facebook turns around and opens their platform up so people from the outside can follow you through Facebook Not figuring out a way to keep new users engated early once they first sign up Nielsen suggesting that the retention rate of 40% may be incorrect. Neilsen failed to account for all access points. Here is an article that rebuffs Neilson findings. The methods in which people communicate is decentralized and fragmenting. This fragmentation and is happening at a faster rate.  For companies that are trying to get into the space, ...

Yes I Have The iPhone 3G

Tags: iphone, Technology

If you are remotely interested in technology you've heard about the new iPhone 3G. I wrote in an earlier post about the announcement at the world wide developers conference. The release date for the phone was July 11Th. I was torn if I should get the new iPhone 3G, but Steve Jobs kept whispering in my ear telling me if you want to be cool, and accepted by society I must get this phone at all cost! Naturally I promptly obeyed his request and took the day off in hopes of getting the phone the first day it came out. With my relaxation chair in one hand, and my pattie in the other I went to my local AT&T store at 6:00 am. Now the stores didn't open until 8:00 am but I took the risk that there wouldn't be too many people in line. Well my assumption was correct. I was sixth person in line! The wait was very pleasant, everyone seemed to be excited about getting the phone, including myself and the excitement mounted as it got closer to 8:00 am. The doors were open promptly at 8:00 am and I was one of the first batch to get inside. I ended up getting the white 16 ...

iphone 3G 8GB for $199!

Tags: iphone, Technology

I was riveted to macrumorslive.com who are doing live coverage of the Worldwide Developer Conference. I was follow Steve Job keynote announments and waiting patiently for the iphone specific info. The most exciting news for me is the price cut to $199. That's a great price, and a lot more people will jump on the band wagon and get one of these phones. So the plus and minus for me are this: Plus $199 for 8GB, $299 for 16GB Finally A-GPS Geotagging of photos Now you have 3g much, much faster than Edge Increased battery life Exchange Support Negative Still no support for MMS Still no Copy or Past AT&T going to charge $10 more for data plan Have to re-up my contract No support for N I'm more than likely going to get one, although I'm still conflicted, and the biggest hurdle is convincing my wife. Any tips?

June 9th iphone Announcement

Tags: iphone, Technology

I really like my phone, like my wife really loves her shoes. The phone makes me feel sexy, makes me feel "special". I snuggle up with my phone and whisper sweet things it its ear. I use it while I'm on the train. I use it while I'm working out. I use it on the road. I've used it even while sitting on the toilet. Just kidding on the last point. Since I got my first mobile phone I've wanted a device that I can watch my movies, listen to pod casts, send emails, browse the web in a totally sexy form factor. Well apple hit the mark in all areas. So even though I'm happy with the phone, I'm looking forward to the new phone that is rumored to be announced on June's WWDC keynote and more than likely released in short order. The consumerist in me wants the latest and greatest, specially this new update. It is rumored to have 3g and maybe true GPS ( current phones does rough location positioning by cross-referencing tower triangulation with a database of known Wi-Fi hot spots ) with a slightly changed form factor. I would also like 8GB version compared to the 4GB version which I have ...

iphone SDK love

Tags: iphone, Technology

I love the iphone for so many reasons. I really should quit my day job and become a salesman for Apple! What I'm really looking forward to is the release of the SDK which will allow native applications to run on the phone. The iPhone 3d Earth application is one of those apps I’m looking forward to trying. It is not like Google Earth, but has some of the same features. Take a look at the video below. Also check out Frank Taylor visit to Earthscape booth.

TED

Tags: Science, Technology

If you are a geek, designer or enjoy science and you want to hear great presentations from some of the great thinkers and doers. I think you will find TED( Technology, Entertainment, Design ) an enjoyable site to hear them speak. Each speaker has 18 mins to give a provocative speech in their area of expertise. Below are a few that I really enjoyed. Talks Yochai Benkler: Open-source economics Yochai Benkler explains how collaborative projects like Wikipedia and Linux represent the next stage of human organization. Talks Ray Kurzweil: How technology's accelerating power will transform us Inventor, entrepreneur and visionary Ray Kurzweil explains in abundant, grounded detail why, by the 2020s, we will have reverse-engineered the human brain and nanobots will be operating your consciousness.
